When you receive calls or SMS that claim to be from banks, BNM, the police or other authorities, you should be cautious and first authenticate the identity of the caller or sender. You may be told that your account is at stake or that unauthorized transactions have been conducted.
a. Never reveal personal or account information to a 3rd party. Banks / BNM / Authorities will never ask for your personal or banking particulars over the phone
b. Do not rely on incoming call display to identify the caller. Always call the bank directly via the number obtained from a trustworthy source, e.g. behind your credit card.
c. Register for TAC with your own mobile phone number only.
d. Check your transaction history regularly for suspicious transactions.
